Neil and I proudly welcomed Charles Anton Wisker on December 1, 2010 at 1:26pm. He was a big but short boy - 9 lbs, 40z and 19" long. As you can see from the pictures, he also has a great head of hair - Luke is jealous (in more ways than one!). It is hard to believe that Luke and Charlie are brothers - they look like complete opposites!

So it's been about a year since I've updated our blog. We figured that since we are anticipating the arrival of Peanut Wisker on 12/01/10 that it's a good time to restart the Wisker Blog! What's new with us, you ask?? Let's see, I've been pregnant so we don't do anything! For some reason, we decided not to find out the sex of this munchkin and I must admit that it's been fun trying to guess what peanut is going to be. For the 1st 8 months of the pregnancy I was pretty sure that it was a boy since I feel exactly the same and have the same cravings as I did with Luke. However, the last month or so I've been thinking that it is a girl now. Why? Well, we aren't completely set on the girl name and the heart rate has been in the 150's the last 3-4 appointments. Before that, the heart rate was always in the 130's which was similar to Luke's. We will find out in a few short days though. I am scheduled to go in for a repeat c-section on 12/1/10.

Luke will be 18 months old on 12/5/10. He is walking pretty well now (started at 16 months) and thinks everything is funny. He has a contagious laugh... I don't think he knows that he's about to become a big brother so hopefully he doesn't take after his mother and tries any stunts to gain attention... I don't need 2 kids in the hospital!

Luke celebrated his first Thanksgiving with the Whaley's in Brook, Indiana this year. It was a busy Thanksgiving with 3 new babies this year - Luke, cousin Ruby Snyder, and Jake Whaley. See them with their proud papas...

After the big feast in Brook, we headed down to Shelbyville for the remainder of the weekend. Luke had lots of fun and giggles with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Debbie. Cousin Alex also came over one day to play and cousins Jonathan & Ruby came over for a sleepover! Luke also took a daytrip to Indianapolis to visit Steven Mottl who came all the way from Tucson, AZ for Thanksgiving with his grandparents. It was a great weekend!

The Wiskers headed into the city to catch the Purdue/IU game on 11/21/09 with the Mays and the Schupperts. Fortunately for Luke, he has not seen the Boilers lose to those dreaded Hoosiers EVER! Purdue won the game 38-21 and the Oaken Bucket is in the right hands. The day was even better because he finally got to meet Ms. Lucy May! I think that Lucy must have an eye on Luke, or rather a hand on the thigh!

Luke turns 5 months!

It's hard to believe that Luke is now 5 months old! I was updating his baby book the other day and realized how much bigger he is now. He is weighing in at 18 lb 8 oz and looks to be 27 1/2 inches long.

This was a big month for Luke. He started eating baby food. He has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, squash, and peas for vegtables. As for fruits, he has tried apples, pears, peaches, and bananas. He has been eating them all pretty well - but if I had to guess I think his favorites are peaches, pears, and green beans. I also think he went through a growth spurt at about 4 1/2 months. He started waking up at 1am and was feverishly hungry so we solved that problem by giving him more food during the day, which seems to be doing the trick. His daily eating habits are: 6am = 6 oz breastmilk, 9am = 5 oz breastmilk, 12pm = 1 container of baby food (vegetable) + 2 tablespoons of oatmeal + 1/2 scoop of formula, 4 oz breastmilk, 3pm = 6 oz bottle, 6:30pm = 1 container of baby food (fruit) + 2 tablespoons of oatmeal + 1/2 scoop of formula, 8-8:30pm = 5-6 oz breastmilk.

Luke is also doing very well at Chesterbrook Academy. His teachers tell us everyday that he is just such a smiley baby and he loves observing the other kids in his class. They do alot of fingerpainting and texture activities. He also seems to be laughing alot now - especially at how silly momyy and daddy are! He has learned to roll over both ways - but doesn't really like to do it. It seems like he rolls over maybe once every 1.5-2 days.

Unfortunately, this week Luke was diagnosed with pink eye on 11/4. He had to stay on eyedrops for 24 hours before returning to school, so mommy got to take Thursday off and spend time with Luke. The pink eye seemed much better after even just a day and we finished taking the drops on Monday, 11/9.

Halloween 2009

Luke loved his first Halloween. He was Mommy & Daddy's little Luke O'lantern and I don't know if I've ever seen a cuter pumpkin ;) At school, all of the infants rode the buggies in a halloween parade. Here's Luke at Chesterbrook with his classmates:

The night before we carved his first pumpkin. We actually put him inside it. It was funny because when we first put him in, you could tell he thought the pumpkin insides felt weird. But then he started giggling and laughing and seemed to like it. Such a cutie!

Halloween was a busy day for him - we went and got his picture taken at Picture People, then went to the Schupperts and then went Trick or Treating ( at just a few of the neighbor's houses!) Luke and Haley were so adorable in their costumes - it makes my heart melt!

Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch

Luke went to his first pumpkin patch at Goebbert's Farm in South Barrington. This place was packed! We met our friends the Grunds, Schupperts, & Ohs and all of our kiddos. I think Luke will like this much better next year - I think he was a little overwhelmed by how many pictures mommy wanted to take! All in all, we had a great day - picked out 5 pumpkins, had kettlecorn and warm apple cider! Plus, we got to sit in Paul Bunyon's chair!

Saturday we went downtown for brunch so that Luke could meet our friend Jen Chutorash. Jen moved to Canada after she married our good friend Eric in March. Hopefully, they will move back to Chicago soon! There we got to see the Schupperts, Erin, Maureen & Michael, Jaime, and Juanita. Purdue didn't fair so well - but since we're Cubs fans I guess we're used to saying - Just wait till next year!

After the game, Luke tried his first solid foods (10/10/09). He did really well and ate all of his sweet potatoes. I think he might like them because I ate them a bunch for lunch at Elephant & Castle when I was pregnant!

Luke's Big Week!

Well, this past week was a big week for Luke and mommy. On October 5th, Mommy went back to work and Luke started his first day at Chesterbrook Academy. He was all smiles when Mommy dropped him off, but Mommy was all in tears. It is so hard to go back to work. Nevertheless, we think he likes it. He came back from the first day and barely could stay awake! They wore him out. He stayed busy all week meeting the other babies, doing art projects, listening to stories, and going for buggy rides. His teachers are Ms. Bonnie, Ms. Erica, and Ms. Jean.

Luke @ 4 months

Luke went in for his 4 month appointment on Tuesday. He was 16 lb 12 oz (84%) and 27 inches (97%). He's growing so fast and is so long! He's already wearing 9 month clothes! He is rolling over, but not everyday - only when he feels like it :) Here he is playing with some of his new toys!

Purdue vs. Notre Dame - BOO!

We got together with the Schupperts for the Purdue vs. Notre Dame game this weekend. Unfortunately, the Boilers couldn't pull out the win this year. I have a feeling that in practice this week, some time will be devoted to "when to call a timeout." Nevertheless, Luke & Haley were cute in their Purdue gear. Luke got a new mat like Bryce's - he loves it! Check it out...

With less than 2 weeks left of my maternity leave, Lana and I set up another playdate for Bryce and Luke. Bryce is Luke's crystal ball - they are 5 weeks apart but seem to be the same height/weight at their wellness check-ups. Bryce is eating solid food and rolling all over the place. His basment is also set up like a Baby Disney World. Luke was so excited for all the toys and fun baby equipment at Auntie Lana's house. We tried the jumparoo but Luke really didn't catch on to it yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

Final Stop - Indiana!

After wrapping up our east coast travels, we headed west for 13 hours (should be 10 hours without a baby). We were able to stop off and see Neil's old co-worker, Lauren Smith, who moved back to the Pittsburgh area. We even checked out her new basement which is an homage to the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Then we continued on to Shelbyville to see Grandma and Grandpa one night before heading back to Chicago. On Monday, Aunt Lisa & Uncle Matt brought Alex over to play. They are getting so big. Alex is a roly-poly and it's crazy to see how much 7 weeks makes a difference. All said and done, we spent 35 hours in the car! Luke was such a trooper - didn't really get grouchy till the last leg.

After spending the weekend in St. Mary's, we continued on our trip another 5 hours south to Herndon, VA, where I grew up. Luke's Ni-Ni (my mom) was so excited to see how big Luke had grown. She hadn't seen him since he was 2 weeks old. Aunt Molly also got to meet Luke for the first time. It was her first time ever holding a live baby and she did great. We enjoyed a week of my mom's chinese food, shopping, seeing Arlington National Cemetary, and meeting a bunch of new people.

We met up with Allyson & her boyfriend Steve. Allyson is my oldest (as in longest) friend - we met in 1st grade! Hard to believe that was 24 years ago! After a week in VA, we travelled 3 hours north to Jenkintown, PA (just outside of Philadelphia) to visit my high school friend, Lisa. She and her husband John are expecting Baby Foertsch on October 2nd. We're excited to hear news of her arrival!

Luke's first trip to St. Mary's

Luke made his first trip to the east coast in mid September. We drove through the night on 9/10 so that we wouldn't have to stop too much for Luke. He slept all the way through - even when we changed drivers. We ended up leaving at 9pm CST and getting to St. Mary's, PA at 8am EST. Made for a very tired Mommy and Daddy, but Luke got to meet tons of people! On Saturday, everyone came over to Great Uncle Tom's for a big pork roast dinner - it was yummy! Purdue Tailgate & Labor Day Weekend

Boiler up!

Luke went to his first Purdue Tailgate for the Purude vs. Toledo game. Mayn of our friends from Civil/CEM were in town for the game so Luke met many people. Tim & his new wife Erin were in town from Colorado Springs as well as Heidi Schneider who now lives in Tucson, AZ. Luke also met Elliott and his son Colin. Didn't stay for the game (too long of a da for little Luke), but he did get to meet Purdue Pete while tailgating! Afterwards we drove another 2 hours south to Shelbyville to spend time with Neil's family for the holiday weekend. Cousin Jonathan & Ruby made it to the BBQ and Neil frightened Jonathan (again) with becoming a "gorilla." I'll try to upload the video soon...

Luke met Auntie Gretchen and Christian today! Luke was born on June 5th which is Auntie Gretchen's birthday - then Auntie Gretchen had Christian 2 days later on June 7th... Who knew that our babies would be born this close together... If you had told me this over a Long Island Iced Tea at Harry's 10 years ago, I would have told you to "Get out"! Ha, ha... It was a fun day... Auntie Juanita came from the city with Jaydan to play in the morning. Juanita's expecting a little girl on November 29th so we can't wait for that. Then we went to lunch at Hugo's Frog Bar and went for a little walk along the Naperville River Walk... Such a very nice day!

Surprise Visit from Grandma Wisker

I'm Grandma's silly monkey!

Luke was pleasantly surprised with a visit from Grandma Wisker early this week. We did lots of fun things - Grilled out, made sweet corn, went to the outlets, went on a neighborhood stroll, and tried rice cereal for the first time. It was ok - I'd like to see the people on Top Chef work some magic with it :)

Last weekend, Luke went to his first BBQ at the Schupperts. Unfortunately, it was unseasonably cold so Luke was not able to show off his sexy bathing suit trunks. Instead,we had a pajama party!!!

We decided to try out Luke's new tub. It's supposed to be for 6 months and older, but he's a big boy. He's already wearing 6 month clothes too. As you can see, the bath really relaxes him!

Visit from the Kellys

The Kellys visited us this weekend from Indianapolis. Luke and Alex are 7 weeks apart and seem to get along already even though their sleeping and eating schedules were completely opposite! On Saturday, Neil and Matt golfed with Schuppert & Joe. According to Neil, he golfed really well. Lisa and I went to the Farmer's Market in downtown Naperville and got some potatoes, zucchini, and sweet corn. I made Lisa pick out the corn since Neil says I don't know how to pick corn. She gave me some pointers, so hopefully I will do better next time! Later that day, we took the boys for a stroller ride along the riverwalk in downtown Naperville - it was a nice day out and great to be outside. Here are some pictures...

Luke had a busy week! On 8/14, my old coworkers from Bulley - Julia & Meredith came to visit. They brought us some yummy noodles from Penny's Noodle shop in the city. On 8/17, the Rafferty/McCorkle clan came to visit from Portage, IN. We went to lunch at Rosebud in downtown Naperville and then took all the kids on a stroller ride down the riverwalk. Although it was extremely humid - it was a nice time! The following day, we had a playdate with Neil's co-worker's Veena & Ashna and Sheryl with her twins Molly & Cassie. All of them were born within a couple of weeks of each other - but Luke is by far the biggest!

1st trip to Chinatown

We celebrated Auntie Juanita's 33 rd birthday with a trip to chinatown. It was Luke's first dim sum (chinese brunch) at our favorite restaurant, Phoenix. He was very alert and good at the restaurant - just taking in all the commotion. Afterwards we took some pictures near the Bull Status. Luke was born in the Year of the Bull.

Luke is 2 months old!

Luke turned 2 months on August 5th - time flies by! We went to the pediatrician for his check up and he is a growing boy - 13 lbs 8 oz (88%), 24 1/2" (94%), 15 1/2" head circumference (37%). He cried a little when getting his shots, but the rest of the afternoon he was sleepy.

Earlier in the week, Luke has really started to wiggle. One morning I even found him turned 180 degrees in the crib. I almost had a heart attack when I just saw his feet in the baby monitor! Another milestone, on Saturday 8/8 Luke rolled over from his stomach to his back. Unfortunately Neil or I did not get to witness it. I was at the eye doctor and Neil was cleaning Luke's big poop mess in the swing. Maybe doing #2 made him lighter and it easier to roll - who knows!

Pretty soon this chair won't look so big!

Luke goes to Bryce's Baptism

Luke made his 2nd official trip to Indiana to see his friend, Bryce get baptized. Bryce did a great job and so did Mommy & Daddy. After church, everyone headed to the Rafferty's backyard for a great afternoon of sunshine & food. See how big Bryce is getting?? They look like best buds already!

7.30.09 - Luke had a playdate with the VanAnne twins, Molly (left) and Cassie (right) who were born on May 29, 1 week before him. As you can see, Luke hasn't been skipping any meals as he has quickly surpassed the twins in size. Who says that girls grow faster?? Celia & the Quirk girls, Moira and Maddy were also there. Luke was a little overwhelmed being the only boy, but I'm sure, like his daddy, he loved being surrounded by all the pretty girls!

Friday (7/25), Angie & Luke made a visit to the Pepper office to show off cute Baby Luke. He was so cute, that Mommy got another 4 weeks of maternity leave and doesn't have to go back to work until October 5th! So myadvice is when asking for additional time off, bring in the baby - you will surely make your boss feel guilty :)

Later that day, Luke made his first trip to Indiana. He slept the whole 4+ hours there and back - not even a diaper change or feeding on the way. While in Indiana, Luke met his Great Aunts Jean & Janet, Aunt Lori & Uncle Eric, Aunt Lisa & Uncle Matt, and cousins Jonathan, Ruby, & Alex! He also cleaned house at the Schoentrup Reunion and won the award for the youngest person at the reunion and the farthest traveler! I think Luke enjoyed his first trip to Indiana because he was constantly held - which is one of his favorite pastimes!

So I know I've kind been a slacker on the whole blogger thing. I'm still learning how to use it. I finally uploaded all of Luke's photo galleries to Picasa. Everyone will probably start feeling bad for Luke since all I do is take pictures all day of him!

Welcome Luke Edward!

We FINALLY welcomed Luke Edward on Friday, June 5th at 10:13pm (9 lbs 0 oz, 21 1/4"). I went to my doctor's appt. on June 4th and they sent me to the hospital since I had lost some amniotic fluid and he was 10 days overdue at that point. After alot of drugs and no progression, they decided to send me in for a c-section at 9pm on Friday. Luke shares his birthday with Grandma Wisker, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Tony, and Auntie Gretchen! What a special day!

Well, it looks like Baby Wisker is very content being inside my belly! He is now 6 days overdue and we are anxiously awaiting his arrival! I have a doctor appointment this Thursday and if nothing has happened, we will be heading to the hospital Saturday evening. Hopefully, he will arrive by the time Ama (means "grandma" in chinese) comes to visit on Sunday from Virginia. Here are pictures of the nursery...

Well, let's just say that this Memorial Day weekend, may be the LONGEST EVER! We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby Wisker. Even after the weekend of long walks, spicy food and BBQ's, we think Baby Wisker may be trying to make a late arrival to his own party! Only time will tell...
